Oregon and Washington Vital Record Indexes

Oregon Vital Records Indexes:

The Oregon Death Index begins in 1903 and goes to the present. The index has been filmed by Oregon Vital Records, and much of it is online at Ancestry.com.

The Oregon Marriage Index begins in 1906 and goes to the present. Exception: there are no indexes from 1935 to 1945 or from 1961 to 1965. The 1906-1920 index is online at Ancestry.com.

The Oregon Divorce Index begins in 1925 and goes to the present. Exception: there is no index for 1961 to 1965.

Oregon birth indexes are closed to the public. Click here for a list of nineteenth-century birth record substitutes.

County Level Vital Records: Most counties kept marriage records from the time of their founding. A number of the pre-1906 marriage indexes have been abstracted and published by genealogical societies. See my individual county inventories for a list of materials in my library. Click here.
